This young man was bothered by the hump on his nose and could have done the easy thing, having any doctor do his rhinoplasty .  However, this patient researched the topic diligently and found that analysis of one’s nose is very important -  the optimal plan is not so easy and straightforward.  He called our office and arranged for a phone consultation due to the long distance involved.  With the photo he sent, I explained that his radix area is very low and a simple removal of the hump would result in a bridge that is too low aesthetically and really not appropriate for a man.  Furthermore, a low bridge makes the bottom part of the nose look larger, and this optical illustion will make the bridge appear wider from the front. It is also likely his breathing would not be quite as good.  After our discussion, he traveled across the state for rhinoplasty procedure. We lowered his bridge only a small amount and built up the very low area up higher for a much better cosmetic and functional result.  He is very excited about the decisions he made and his result here at eight months after surgery.   Since the bridge of his nose was built up using his own tissues there is a good chance it will remain as a good, viable, reliable graft for the rest of his life.
